Zoom, The Recovery Book & Online meetings

Dr. Al Mooney, MD, Medical Director of Recovery Africa, co-author of The Recovery Book, has been hosting sessions on a Zoom and Skype platform for the past ten years with individuals and treatment centers in Ghana and the U.S. The sessions are facilitated by Yaw-Obeng-Nsiah. The sessions utilize The Recovery Book along with the My Life in Recovery workbook both of which were also co-authored by Catherine Dold. Over 150 copies of both books are being used in Ghana and have helped strengthen the recovery movement in the country and helped to develop Ghanaian leadership. If you are interested in finding out more please JOIN US each Monday at 10:45 A.M. Eastern Standard Time for meet and greet and technical assistance at https://zoom.us/j/9196779988. Sessions begin promptly at 11AM ET.

On Mondays at 12 PM Easter Standard Time we also host a family recovery session on the same Zoom platform above. We are made up of a group of individuals who are in family recovery, in other words, members of our family (sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and others) are in active addiction or are in recovery. Why still attend the meeting if a family member is in recovery from addiction to alcohol or other drugs? Although the family member is no longer in active addiction, we still meet and share our experience, strength and hope with others in order to offer comfort or to continue to learn new coping skills for ourselves. Our meeting format is loosely based on Al-Anon and Nar-Anon meetings in the United States. We maintain a confidential meeting space where what is said at the meeting is not shared outside of the meeting. The meetings are also opportunities to learn about the disease of addiction and how it affects families (as well as the person with a substance use disorder).
